The Health and Physical Education Department is dedicated to preparing students for lifelong wellness by promoting physical fitness, informed health choices, and personal responsibility through engaging and inclusive instruction. We are committed to developing healthy, active, and responsible young adults by integrating physical activity, health education, and wellness practices into a supportive learning environment.

REQUIRED COURSES (Grades 9-11)
Grade 9-10; Credits - .5
This course is designed for ninth and tenth grade students and is based on activities involving swimming, team sports, individual sports and fitness activities. Co-Educational activities will constitute a part of the program. Students have the opportunity to complete the physical education requirement during the summer before their 11th grade year. There is a cost associated with taking the summer school class.
Grade 9-10; Credits - .5
The foundation of this course is fitness as opposed to team sports. Cardiac/Aerobic activities such as walking, jogging, kickboxing, bike riding, swimming and workout tapes; combined with weight training, yoga, exercise balls and bands, and other fitness activities.
Grade 10; Credits - .5
The foundation of this course is weight training as opposed to team sports. Students who are interested in a 5 day a week lifting program, this class is for you. Students must follow the teacher’s program or design one of their own in conjunction with the teacher. Students must record progress daily and show improvement. Students will also have swimming instruction. One day a week the class may participate in a team or recreational sport so other classes may utilize the fitness center.
Grade 10-11; Credits - .5
A health course is required of all students. This course will cover a variety of health areas including the human body, fitness for living, nutrition, personal health, emotional well-being, mental illness, stress management, relationships, violence, sex education, drug abuse, alcohol, tobacco, infectious diseases and CPR for certification. This course meets daily. Students have the opportunity to complete the health requirement during the summer. There is a cost associated with taking the summer school class.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION ELECTIVES
Students may schedule a maximum of two Physical Education credits each year.
Grade 11-12; Credits - .5
This elective physical education activity will include class segments of the following team sports: Flag Football, Team Handball, Volleyball, Basketball, Team Rec. Games, Ultimate Frisbee, Badminton, Table Tennis, Indoor Soccer and Softball.
