Penn-Trafford TV is a student-driven broadcast and film program dedicated to telling the stories of our school and community with professionalism, creativity, and heart. Through daily live productions, special projects, and community partnerships, PTTV challenges students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and uphold high standards of journalism, media ethics, and technical excellence. We believe every student has a voice and a role; by learning through real deadlines and real responsibilities, our students create meaningful content that informs, inspires, and brings pride to the Penn-Trafford community.

Turn your ideas into something you can actually watch on screen. In this class, you’ll get hands-on with real cameras, tripods, microphones, and professional editing software (Final Cut Pro X) as you create videos for YouTube and social media. Intro to Video Production gives you the foundation you need for both TV 1 and Film 1, while letting you experiment with news stories, short films, promos, interviews, and more. You won’t just talk about video—you’ll plan, shoot, and edit your own projects from start to finish. This course is perfect for anyone curious about television production, journalism, communications, visual arts, public relations, acting, or behind-the-scenes technical work. Whether you want to be on camera or behind it, this is where you start.

Ready to be part of the team behind our award-winning morning newscast? In this class, you won’t just watch TV—you’ll make it.
You’ll rotate through every job in a real studio: running the cameras and teleprompter, setting up lights, mixing audio, switching between shots in the control room, rolling video, and creating graphics for our high-definition live broadcast. You’ll learn exactly what it takes to pull off a live show when the red light comes on. Class projects include Producing commercials for school events and activities, Creating news and sports packages, Helping with the Make-A-Wish Telethon, Writing, producing, and directing a live show from start to finish
If you’ve ever wanted to anchor, report, direct, or be the hidden genius in the control room, this is your chance to do it for real.

In this class, you’ll take what you learned in TV 1 and level up—fast. You’ll be out filming, interviewing, and editing stories about all things Penn-Trafford: sports, clubs, special events, PSAs, Make-A-Wish Telethon coverage, commercials, and whatever else is happening around school.
You’ll get real-world, hands-on experience doing both on-air and behind-the-scenes jobs for a live show: anchoring, reporting, running cameras, audio, graphics, and more. You’ll help decide what makes it into the show, cover events you actually care about, and even have the chance to submit your work to competitions like the Mid-Atlantic High School Emmy Awards.

Ever watch a movie and think, I could totally make something like that? This class is where you actually do it.
In Film 1, you’ll step into the role of filmmaker and learn how movies are created from idea to final cut. You’ll build on what you learned in Intro as you dive into Writing scripts and planning shots with storyboards, Filming with purpose and style, Recording and mixing audio, Editing like a pro in Final Cut Pro, Studying popular films to see how the pros do it.
You’ll work on a variety of fun projects, including Short drama and comedy films, Music videos, Other creative video pieces that show off your style. Along the way, you’ll also get to watch and analyze well-known movies—not just for fun, but to steal (in a good way!) techniques you can use in your own work.
If you love movies, storytelling, or just making cool stuff with a camera, this class is for you.

Grade 11-12; Credits - .5
This course supplements the TV classes by providing a production lab for editing, writing, filming and other elements or production. Reflection and critique of Wake Up Warriors will also take place during this lab along with prep work for the following day’s show. This lab is available to all students taking a TV Production course with the exception of Introduction to TV/Film Production and can be taken both semesters.
