The community service information on this page is for current members of NHS, not potential inductees.
One of the ways students honor the pillars of NHS is through continued community service. To graduate with full honors, students must complete a minimum of eight (8) hours of community service with an outside organization to gain one (1) of their NHS points; these hours must be completed post-induction. Opportunities should be secured by students. Once attained, students must complete the form attached to Canvas assignment and submit it with a letter, written on official letterhead, by a representative of the volunteer organization verifying at least eight hours of service outside of the school day. All verification letters MUST be submitted via Canvas, no emails or hard copies will be accepted.
Acceptable types of organizations include, but are not limited to, nonprofit organizations, charities, hospitals, churches, community organizations, shelters, etc.
Unacceptable types of volunteer work include working for parents/family members (unless attached to a nonprofit organization) and unpaid work for a profit-based organization.
