Pencoed Primary School is a co-educational, county maintained community school for children between 3 and 11 years of age. We are an English-medium school, and Welsh is taught as a second language. The school moved into our brand new site in September 2018 and is set in attractive grounds with extensive facilities. At Pencoed, we are a very friendly, happy school where we make every child feel valued. We currently have approximately 570 pupils on roll including a Nursery Unit, 15 single age classes, 3 mixed age classes and 4 specialist learning resource centres. We are proud to be a fully inclusive school. We want each and every child to achieve the very best they can and all of the staff work hard to achieve this.

We very much value the support of parents and carers and actively welcome family members into the school to support the children's learning. We have a dedicated Well being team, including a Family Engagement Officer and two Well-being Officers who develop strong links with our families and pupils, undertake home visits, offer a wide range of fun family learning opportunities and provide specialist support.  

We enjoy sharing our practice with other schools and deliver leadership training on behalf of the Central South Consortium, the ASPIRE programme for Newly Qualified Teachers across five local authorities and we are a Lead Partner School for Cardiff Metropolitan University. We are also keen to learn from others so we are very proactive in visiting other schools and settings to ensure we keep on developing our provision here. We have also been awarded Google Reference School status, one of only a few schools in Wales. 

Outdoor learning is a key aspect of our provision and we have our own forest school site, pond area and astro turf. We provide a range of curricular clubs for our pupils including forest school sessions, a wide variety of sporting clubs which also involve fixtures against other schools and lots of musical and creative opportunities such as choir, art club and cookery club.
