Heroes don’t always wear capes; sometimes they wear scrubs. The school’s very own hero is right within our building; she is Nurse Sam Knisley. She attended Salve Regina located in Newport, Rhode Island. She has obtained a bachelor's’ degree in science, a masters’ degree in business healthcare management, and a masters’ degree in health and wellness education. With over six years of experience and schooling up her sleeve, she is ready to tackle any obstacle.
She has been with PHS for eight years at. When asked what motivated her to come to our school everyday, and commit to taking care of students? She replied, “I just love what I do.”
She has about 50-100 students visit her per day in the nurse’s office. If you think about it, that’s around 16 students per hour. So each hour, she’s dividing her time equally, making sure to pay close attention to each student's individual needs.
Over the years, she has become more equipped to handle any type of situation, medically speaking. She does her best to accommodate every student, and cater to the specific ongoing crisis.
When asked what’s the most memorable thing in all your years working here, she said, “graduation. Watching past freshmen grow up into seniors.”
Just being able to see the young teenagers she has cared for over the years, graduating from high school brings tons of enjoyment to her. So when dropping by the Nurse's office, located next to Mr. Talbot's office, you'll be amazed by the kind-hearted and compassion exhibited by Mrs. Knisley.
