What's Your Favorite Fan Section?
by Mikey Giese
Fan sections are popular at most high schools around the United States. What is a fan section? A fan section is a group of people (students) from the same school who go to sports games to cheer on their friends and classmates. Themes are popular for these events, making the atmosphere better and just a simple way for people to connect with each other and have fun.
Here at Pembroke High, our fan section means a lot to the students. The Pembroke “Faithful” brings people together, creates energy, and makes a great atmosphere for our student athletes to win games.
The fan section has done a series of themes this year, including blackout, whiteout, Spain, jerseys, USA, and neon construction. In the future, the fan section will be doing red sea, tropical, Halloween costumes, homecoming, and many more. The Titan Times recently interviewed a batch of student athletes to see what the best themes are for the student section that bring out the most energy and fun. Here’s what we got…
Senior Alissa Marcella
-USA Theme
“I would say the USA theme is my favorite because people have great outfits and it usually rallies a lot of people together. It is one of our better themes here. Everyone has a lot of fun when we do this theme."
Junior Dylan Baldwin
-Red Sea
"There's just something about seeing everyone in red colors that just makes it such a special theme. The red sea always attracted the most people because the game is usually important. It's usually a playoff game, so the atmosphere is great."
Senior Adam Gedutis
-Whiteout
“Whiteout is the best theme here at PHS because it is simple, everyone has it, and it looks good when everyone is together at a game."
Junior Noah Kennedy
-Blackout
“Blackout is a classic. It is my favorite theme and the best theme because it is simple, looks sharp, and everyone has black."
