Mr. Kenny
by Jack Psaros and Turner Gilmore
Science teacher Mr. Kenny has been a favorite for many students. He has been a teacher here at PHS for 14 years. We decided to take our time this month to ask him a couple questions about him and his career.
Q1: How many years have you been teaching, what are the different classes you have taught, which is your favorite?
A1: I've been teaching for 26 years. I have taught biology, physics, zoology, physical science, marine bio, and environmental science. My favorite would have to be zoology because the story of evolution is fascinating. I also like physics because of the powerful explanations on why the world is the way it is.
Q2: Did you really teach NFL hall of famer, Calvin Johnson in Georgia?
A2: I did not teach him, he was in my school. I taught a different NFL player, Kedric Golston, he was a very nice student. The football team was amazing with both of them on it.
Q3: I heard you like going to the gym often, what's your favorite exercise? Why do you enjoy it?
A3: I like the elliptical machine because I can listen to music and just let my mind drift.
Q4: What were some key events that made you decide to become a teacher?
A4: I worked with elementary school kids in an outdoor education program and I really liked it. I was also a biology teacher in graduate college which made me want to become a teacher.
Q5: Where did you go to college?
A5: As an undergrad I went to Washington State University. I was actually there while Drew Bledsoe was. I went to graduate school at Indiana University.

Mr. Stoyle, PHS graduate class of 2015, has returned to PHS to substitute after receiving his bachelor's degree at Ohio State University in business. While at PHS, Mr. Stoyle was a member of both the track and football teams.
Q: What made you decide to substitute?
A: I needed something to do and my sister recommended it to me.
Q: Was substituting always your plan?
A: It was not always my plan, it all happened within about a week.
Q: What is your favoirte part about substituting?
A: Definitely interacting with the students! It’s fun to joke around with them and talk all things PHS.
Q: What is your favorite subject to sub and why?
A: I’ve been filling in for Mrs. Motta’s classes a lot recently so i’d have to say art classes. The vibes are always good up there and it is cool to watch all of the talented artists in their element. Also, Glen is here, who doesn’t love Glen??
Q: What do you do while subbing?
A: I’m actually planning on living in Japan soon so while subbing I try to study Japanese as much as I can!
