March

March in the Music Room:

In March we have so much to celebrate!  Music In Our Schools Month, Womens' History Month, St. Patrick's Day, Holi, and Spring. It might be the busiest month of the year but we have a lot of fun!

Kindergarten

learned a basic Irish step dance pattern and reinforced skills of steady beat and iconic music notation (connecting vocabulary words to music rhythms). We continue  connecting our body to the rhythm of the music and exploring musical contour (high and low) and dynamic (loud and soft).

First Grade

learned a circle dance called Irish Stew and explored rhythm percussion instruments and pitched percussion. We also engaged in a Rhythm Reading Contest and every class improved their top score each week!

Second Grade

learned the line dance pattern for The Rattlin Bog, learned about Indian Classical Music with Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers, and expanded their practice of rhythm and pitched percussion instruments.

Third Grade

explored music centers: students are working on a research project to share for the Spring Concert, and also focused on note reading skill and ukulele chords.

Fourth Grade

explored music centers: students are working on a research project to share for the Spring Concert, and also focused on note reading skills, ukulele, keyboard, and percussion.

In Chorus

we are getting ready for our Spring Concerts. Please see my website for links to practice.
