Notes from the Music Room....

General Music  

Kindergarten is reading the book "Giraffes Can't Dance" and connected with Saint-Saens "Carnival Of The Animals."

First Grade is continuting practice with Orff (mallet) instruments, exploring music notation, and is connecting with Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers South African Zulu Music with artists who were featured in The Lion King.

Second Grade  is practicing with Orff (mallet) instruments and reviewing music notation. Students are connecting with Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers Digital Curriculum learning about music from Mali and the beautiful traditional instrument called the Kora, which is a relative of the harp.

Third Grade is beginning UKULELE as well as reinforcing skills on Orff (mallet) instruments. Students are learning about song form and how to play together as a group.

Fourth Grade is bringing it all together with MUSIC CENTERS- we are reviewing keyboard, ukulele, percussion and Orff and creating a very special research project we will share with you at the Spring Concert!

Chorus  Students are beginning to learn the songs for our Spring Concert! We're also learning and reinforcing key skills at each grade level building our singing voice. Practice material for K-2 is on the website; additional material for grades 3-4 is on Google Classroom. 

Save the Date! Mr Louis and Mrs Gill will be Team ELF Music at the PRSD Cornhole Tournament February 27 at PRHS! $5 at the door spectators - all proceeds go to the PRTA Scholarship Fund!
