Join us for a presentation & discussion on the concept and principles of Disability Justice. We'll spend time on the connection between Disability Justice and collective liberation & care and mutual aid. This will also be an opportunity to learn more about the Disability Justice movement and its leaders and history along with practical skills and strategies to bring a Disability Justice lens to your work and life. This is an open space for all and will be taught from an anti-oppression framework.

Latinx and Indigenous Latin American survivors of sexual violence have immense personal and cultural resourceswhile also living at the intersection of multiple oppressions. In this workshop, participants will gain a greater understanding of the dynamics of sexual violence as they impact this population. We will explore historical and contemporary contexts of sexual violence, including barriers and points of strength. Participants will learn about local resources as well as unique tools to be a better ally, advocate and friend to survivors of these communities. We will make sure to touch briefly on disability justice within this context as well.

Shara Jones, Esq, Staff Attorney of Victim Rights Law Center and April Kusters, Assistant Director of PSU Student Legal Services present "Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Survivors and the Law: VRLC & SLS Services." This presentation will explore the legal landscape for sexual assault and domestic violence survivors, how to navigate and make use of available education protections under Title IX and the ADA, options for restraining orders, housing and family law protections and more.

The Women's Resource Center at PSU is excited to have Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha join us this year as our Take Back the Night keynote speaker. Our theme this year for Sexual Assault Awareness & Action Month is "Disability Justice & Sexual Violence: Power, Healing, and Interdependence."
We are also excited that Leah has agreed to lead a writing workshop for us that will center our theme and center those who identify as sick and disabled, survivors, and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

Take Back the Night is an annual event that takes place across college and university campuses to. Our goal is to shed light on the systems of oppressions that connect ableism and sexual violence and the necessary inner and social change work we must take up to address and end this oppression.
Power differentials exist in most relationships that we have, whether personal or professional. This discussion-based workshop offers a space to explore ways in which disability can result in power differences in intimate relationships as well as ways in which those power differences can be navigated.
