Mireya (they/she) is a proud queer, latine, child of immigrants and is passionate about building communities and spaces where people can show up authentically. Their academic background is in Public Health where they specifically study social and health outcomes for queer/ trans BIPOC communities. As a first generation student Mireya strives to demystify the college experience so they are always open to talking about higher education! Outside of work they enjoy watching women's soccer (go thorns), camping with friends, and reading on the couch with their two tuxedo cats Machu Picchu Kuromi (P2 for short) & Louis.
Carrie was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and they identify as xicanx, transmasc, queer, + non-binary. In 2020, Carrie graduated with an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree in Feminist Studies, with a concentration in Law, Politics, + Social Change, from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Outside of academia, Carrie enjoys reading queer, feminist, anti-racist, anti-colonial, and anti-capitalist theories, from the likes of bell hooks, Audre Lorde, Cherrie Moraga, Frantz Fanon, + Angela Davis. They are a huge fan of the TV show Futurama, the X-Men franchise, + CBS’s Survivor. They truly love anything pop culture! For astrology lovers out there, Carrie is an Aquarius sun, Pisces Moon, + Taurus Rising.

Programming Coordinators
Gray is a transfer student and butch from Portland who is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work. Their main passion is art (especially illustration and printmaking), but in their free time you can also find them reading DC Comics and manga, taking long walks and trying new crafts. This is their second year as the PEAC, and she is excited to find new ways to engage people in activism on campus.
Madeleine is a Chicana first generation transfer student hailing from Santa Cruz, CA. They enjoy listening to music, watching horror movies, and hanging out with their cat, Elrond. She’s a huge nerd and enjoys talking about Game of Thrones and all sorts of vampire based media!
Kayrulea (she/they), is a 24-year-old trans woman living and learning in Portland. She is currently pursuing a major in Psychology with a minor in Sexuality, Gender & Queer Studies. In their free time, you can find them working on new music or out in the world taking pictures of Portland's beautiful nature and birds. This is her first year working as the Trans Women's Community Coordinator, and is thrilled to have this opportunity.
Marketing & Outreach
Mariah is a senior in the Graphic Design program and this is her third year at the WRC! When she works, Mariah likes to listen to music, like Frank Ocean, Kali Uchis, or NewJeans, or watching Let's Plays. Mariah enjoys trying new foods while on campus, but when in doubt, will go to Best Baguette. And although she is a homebody, she hopes to go out more and experience more things on campus this year!
Kazia is a third year student studying community urban studies and getting a minor in business administration. She loves going out and trying different dessert shops. Kazia has two cats and hopes to build an animal sanctuary in the future. If you like modeling/photography, connect with her, as she wants to continue getting better at her photography skills! She hopes to connect with different students this year and continue building community at the WRC!
Welcome Desk Staff
Vanessa is going on her second year working at the welcome desk. She is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology (hoping to finish in a year and a half from now!). Vanessa is a first gen Mexican American student, oldest of 6 kids! She loves fat cats and hopes to be one in her next life. Plus she looovvveeees listening to music as much as she enjoys sharing her playlists with others.
Anay Pelayo (she/her) is a third-year student majoring in Public Health Studies: Pre-Clinical. This is also her third year working at the Women’s Resource Center, where she support's students at the welcome desk. As a Latina/Hispanic first-generation college student, Anay is passionate about promoting health equity. Her pre-professional career path is pre-dental. In her free time, she loves reading and watching movies.
