Ellie Carlson, joined Glidance as our Head of Orientation and Mobility, a critical step forward for Glide as a new mobility aid. Ellie is dually accredited as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) and Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (GDMI), with 24 years of experience supporting adults, seniors, and teens who are blind and low vision. She is fluent in American Sign Language and widely recognized for her work with individuals who are deafblind. After working with nonprofits, guide dog schools, and the State of Colorado, Ellie founded Canines and Canes, LLC in 2014 to expand access to O&M services.
Ellie is playing a central role in understanding Glide as a mobility aid, developing techniques and onboarding to support safe and confident adoption. This is a foundational step for the company, and we’re thrilled to have her!
