Dr. Callie Brusegaard is an Assistant Professor of Vision Studies in the School for Global Inclusion and Social Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Her interdisciplinary work centers on equity in education for individuals with visual impairments, with a particular emphasis on personnel preparation, early intervention, inclusive assessment practices, and global disability inclusive development. She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in journals such as the Journal of Blindness and Visual Impairment and Disability and the Global South and contributed to influential book chapters. Her research has received substantial federal and foundation funding, including multiple awards from the U.S. Department of Education and the Rehabilitation Services Administration, one of which is a Braille Training Program. Dr. Brusegaard is actively involved in both national and international professional organizations. She currently serves as Chair of the International Services and Global Issues Division of the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER), Treasurer of the International Council on English Braille (ICEB), and the ICEB representative to the Braille Authority of North America (BANA).
