Teacher candidates engage in seminar activities, facilitated by the seminar leader, in addition to their 10 hours per week of field experience. These activities, which may vary from term to term, are designed to enhance learning and professional growth. Using Portland State University’s learning management system, Canvas, candidates participate in online discussion forums, access instructional content, and attend live webinars that address topics relevant to pre-service Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVIs). Active participation in seminar activities is a course requirement for teacher candidates. While university supervisors and cooperating teachers are not obligated to participate in the seminar components, they are welcome to volunteer by facilitating discussions or presenting during live webinars.
