On this date, George Zimmerman was acquitted of murder, after shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, over a year prior in February 2012.
This was the day that the first "#BlackLiveMatter" appeared on Facebook, sparking a movement and a new era of Civil Rights activism.
