High School Graduation Requirements

General Information about Credits

High school graduation course credit may be earned only if the student receives a grade equivalent to or higher than 60 on a 100-point scale, based upon the essential knowledge and skills of each course. A student who successfully completes only one semester of a two-semester course is awarded partial credit.

However, for full year courses required for graduation, students must earn the remaining credit through a credit restoration method.

The Tennessee Department of Education has specified seven (7) courses for which an End of Course (EOC) assessment is required: English I, English II, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Biology, and US History and Geography.
