The Perryville High School counseling program assists students in acquiring competencies in career planning and exploration, knowledge of self and others, and educational and vocational development.
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from Perryville High School, a student must complete a minimum number of units of credit in a program that is cooperatively planned by the student, his parents, and the school to meet the individual needs of the student. The following is the program of study required for graduation from Perryville High School for the students who will graduate: (Policy IKF).
Communicative Skills 4 Units
Social Studies 3 Units
Mathematics 3 Units
Science 3 Units
Fine Arts 1 Unit
Practical Arts 1 Unit
Physical Education 1 Unit
Health 0.5 Unit
Personal Finance 0.5 Unit
Electives 7 Units
TOTAL 24 Units
*Students who cannot complete graduation requirements within four years have the opportunity to satisfy those requirements through correspondence coursework according to the following guidelines:
1. Students may utilize no more than two correspondence courses (one unit of credit) to fulfill graduation requirements prior to their regular scheduled graduation date. Correspondence courses may not be taken to provide for early graduation.
2. No student may utilize more than a total of four correspondence courses (two units of credit) at any time to apply toward graduation requirements.
3. Correspondence courses may not be taken in lieu of regularly offered courses to enable a student to attend school on a part time basis.
Early Graduation For a senior to request early graduation he/she must have ninety-five percent (95%) cumulative attendance for his/her freshman, sophomore, and junior years. They must submit an application for approval to the high school Principal and Superintendent.
Credit Recovery is a program designed to recover credit for the required classes in which the student did not receive credit. Please see the Counselors office for details.
