Rating: Great
Plattsmouth Community Middle School (PCMS) is a 5-8 building serving the educational needs of roughly 500 students. The approximately 55-member staff is committed to providing a positive school experience. Students receive a balanced curriculum of math, reading, science, social studies, physical education, health, and technology. They are also offered electives. Teachers worked in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to identify exactly what students need to know and be able to do. These essential outcomes are directly aligned with state and national standards and guide the curriculum, working to ensure an effective scope and sequence of concepts and skills taught. Teachers monitor learning through NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests and other district assessments. Many extra-curricular activities are available related to sports, leadership, civic engagement, and other areas of student interest.

Plattsmouth Middle School Successes
Our parents felt that we have done a great job of supporting our students with what they need.
Our students show continuous improvement with all of their many successes!
Our parents and community have been extremely supportive throughout the past year. This was extremely important to our staff to have the support of all of them during this difficult year.
Our EL students feel supported and flourish!
Through this challenging year, we have come together to find solutions for offering students opportunities for "normal" activities. For example, our kids have put on concerts, played sports games, and more. Faculty have researched and set careful guidelines. Students adhere to guidelines with understanding, respect, and diligence. Community members follow guidelines as well as finding ways to recognize students' hard work in the community. (Ex yard signs, balloons, drive-by parades, etc.)
We have been successful at building relationships with our students.
Our school does a good job with communication among the staff. We know what is going on and what is expected of us.
Our music students have participated in honor choirs and honor bands across the area for the past 5 years.
Our most important success is educating students who become contributing members of society. All the things that we do from academics to sports contribute to their growth.
Despite being ALL VIRTUAL, we had 4 teams competing in our State Finals (3 of which placed 1st and qualified for Global Finals) and representation from several grades.
