"This cohort can inspire you to creating new assignments, new ways of teaching, and new ways of looking at your own role with students and the community."
"Overall just feel inspired to keep fighting and bridging the gap between people. We are stronger together!"
"I feel like we had a very well balanced cohort and everyone's backgrounds, perspectives, and identities each brought so much to the discussions and meetings we had. I thought it was great that we did actually have disagreements, but were able to navigate them in a very respectful and thoughtful way."
"I would definitely share that this is a good program, and I would encourage others to take part in it. One piece of advice I would offer is to go into it with a clear idea from the start about what program or community outreach project they want to pursue. Having that focus early on will make the process a lot smoother and save time and frustration down the road. It’s a great opportunity, but like anything, a little planning on the front end goes a long way."
"The CEISC was supportive and fun. I especially appreciated the interaction between faculty and student leaders. It was heartening to see students actively interested and engaged in social change efforts."
"As I continued in CEISC, I really started seeing myself as part of larger ecosystems because of Deepa Iyer's Social Change Ecosystem framework. I realized I shift between roles often, especially in school and when I want to achieve a goal. It’s also been very inspiring to see how everyone excels at different roles, and that real impact comes from leaning into each of our collective strengths together."

The Children’s Book Bank at SMART Reading is located in Northeast Portland. We accept new and gently used book donations from the community, then organize volunteers to sort, clean, and distribute children’s books. In addition, we purchase supplemental books with diverse representation to better meet the needs of the children and families we serve through our Story Like Mine program.

Generous-City (pronounced like "generosity") is a non-profit organization established on the belief that generosity starts with me - the individual.
Our Mission
We strongly hold that even the smallest acts of kindness can ripple effect—one moment, one person, one city at a time—until it becomes a central focus, fostering a movement.
Our Vision
Through this approach, our non-profit highlights the philanthropic efforts and generosity of other local organizations, non profits, small businesses, and charitable individuals. In essence, we raise funds both by partnering with local organizations and non profits, merchandise sales with our company message/logo, business sponsorships and in future hosting fun community popup events to gain traction such as 5K runs, block parties/cookouts, themed dances, pop up parties, children’s carnivals, galas, and so much more.
Every dollar given helps to drive change. All net proceeds support impactful community programs; resource fairs, student scholarships, and direct assistance to other non profits and individuals in need.
We envision a resilience-building community where women, trans, and nonbinary individuals are valued, nourished, have a sense of belonging, and are safe from the impacts of gender-based marginalization.
