Students share thoughts about what motivates them to learn English.
My name is Milena Mendoza, and being a mother has been one of the most beautiful and challenging experiences of my life. My baby, Daniel, is 8 months old, and every day with him is an adventure full of new discoveries. My main goal is to give him the change to grow up happy and healthy. Although at times I feel exhausted from my daily responsibilities, his smile gives me the energy I need to keep going.
In addition to being a mother, I am also an English student. I study on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30-11:20, and on the other days, I take the opportunity to work on my English tasks and household chores. I take care of my baby, cook, and clean, but I always try to organize myself to dedicate time to my studies. Learning a new language is not easy, but I am committed to my goal, which is to communicate better and have more opportunities in this country.
My baby is my main motivation, and even though the journey is sometimes difficult, I don't give up. I take advantage of every moment when Daniel is sleeping to study and improve my English.

Hi, my name is Diego. I am studying English at PCC because of the high quality of its programs and great community. I am motivated to learn English for several important reasons. First, I’m excited by the idea of being the first person in my family to learn and speak the language, which is a meaningful personal achievement. I also know that English opens the door to better job and educational opportunities, which encourages me to keep learning. Another motivation is the desire to teach English to my children in the future, giving them valuable tools for their lives. Lastly, learning English helps me feel more connected to the world and allows me to better understand global events.
