Oil Painting
Notes from the artist:
I choose to paint Afghan women because they reflect my own experiences and resilience. This painting of a nomadic Afghan girl standing in the desert with a herd of sheep is more than just a scene—it represents the quiet strength and courage of women like her.
The desert, harsh and vast, mirrors the challenges of nomadic life, but within it lies beauty, endurance, and connection. Through my art, I want to show the world Afghan women not as victims, but as strong, independent figures who carry our culture and history with dignity and grace.
By painting these women, I hope to give them a voice, showing their strength and the resilience of nomadic life. This painting is not only my story, but the story of all Afghan women, especially those who carry the weight of tradition and survival with unwavering strength.
Earth Materials
Notes from the artist:
This painting of a horse is made with earth materials from my homeland, Afghanistan. Horses have always been my favorite animal, symbolizing power, beauty, and grace.
I used precious stones like lapis lazuli and other colorful stones, along with soil and stones from Afghanistan. These materials are a part of me, connecting the horse to the land I come from. The horse represents strength and beauty, just like the spirit of my country.
Through this painting, I honor the bond between the horse, the land, and myself. It’s a tribute to the beauty of Afghanistan and the strength I carry with me.
