When it comes to equipment and software, everyone's needs will be different because that is dependent on the type of project you are producing.
Access to a computer with at least 30 GB hard drive space (external drives will also work)
Equipment specific to your project
Digital media software specific to your needs, for you to finalize any assets that are specific to your project.
Current portfolio page or website to showcase your completed project story/project design
Digital Platform specific to your project. If you are creating an interactive game, prepare it for the platform it is intended for, as well as for sharing on that platform.
The technical requirements for the course include:
Use editing tools, software, and equipment you are already familiar with.
This class does not teach specific software or equipment, so you'll be relying on the tools and production processes you've already learned and have access to.
You’re welcome to learn new techniques or tools as part of the process, but do not choose a project that requires you to spend the majority of your time watching tutorials. Some additional learning is expected, but the focus should stay on the project itself, not on struggling with unfamiliar software.
Choose a project that allows you to spend your time creating, not just learning how to create.
All students in the class will be provided with a PCC Adobe License.
If you need gear to help you create your project:
There are a few computers and cameras that you can sign out from the PCC library: https://www.pcc.edu/library/equipment-for-checkout/
Another suggestion for gear would be to become a member/producer at Open Signal where you can sign out cameras, recorders, and more. https://community.opensignalpdx.org/forms/inquiry-form
This would also provide an opportunity for you to showcase your projects on their cable channel and their online streaming platform.
