Throughout this unit you will be assessed on your ability to:
identify a variety of changes and challenges experienced throughout adolescence
explain the impact of these changes and challenges on the health of young people
identify a variety of appropriate protective strategies that could be used to support the health of young people when experiencing these changes and challenges
assess the effectiveness of each strategy
predict and manage future changes and challenges
Form a group of 4 and number off 1 through to 4. Allocate one of the following topic areas to each student. This is your 'Home Group'. Each student must make a summary of all information, for their allocated section, using the Cornell Note Making method. This may take place at home, using a Flipped Learning approach. Return to class and join with other students who summarised the same information (all 'number 1 students'). This is your 'Expert Group'. Share your summarised information and clear up any misunderstandings and questions. Then return to your 'Home Group' and share your expertise.
Be sure to make a summary of each topic area, as presented by your peers.
All information gathered by group members can then be used to help the group address the following question (informal written response):
How might Year 7 students cope effectively with a variety of changes and challenges?
"Assess the effectiveness of strategies used to help Year 7 students cope with changes and challenges?"
Use the following scaffold to help you PLAN your response.
