Research is an ongoing, adaptive and systematic process with an aim to increase knowledge and understanding. 

This may include: 

 defining the research area or question 

 planning or designing the research approach 

 locating and selecting relevant information from a range of sources and perspectives; and 

 integrating research with prior knowledge to critically analyse the information and make a judgement.
