Theme

The theme is kindness leads to good things. Throughout the book some people demonstrated it, while some don't. One of them is Uncle Stew. He has been continuously mean to Sophie and Cody. It makes Sophie feel small, and Cody is uncomfortable about it, too. Because of this, Uncle Stew's punishment is him getting  fired from his job. If Uncle Stew was nicer he wouldn't have been fired. Later on in the book, Uncle Stew changes his ways and becomes nicer. He isn't making Sophie small, or making Cody uncomfortable. Because of this, his reward is him finding a new job. If Uncle Stew did not change the way he was acting, he would have never gotten that job. Therefore the theme is kindness leads to good things.
