Chapters 1-12
Cha. 1: Sophie(the main character) talks about her passion for the sea.
Cha. 2: This chapter talks about Sophie's home life and memories, and about the people she will be sailing with. Sophie wants to go sailing because she loves the sea and she wants to visit her grandfather.
Cha. 3: Sophie talks more about her life and what her friends are like at her school.
Cha. 4: Sophie and her crew are preparing to sail and some details about her crew.
Cha. 5: This chapter is about them beginning their trip on the sea, their roles, and a little bit of Sophie’s past.
Cha. 6: This is the first time we here from another perspective, Cody’s perspective.
Cha. 7: Sophie, Cody, and Brian (one of the characters) saw some girls who live on the island they docked on.
Cha. 8: Brian isn’t being nice to Sophie, teasing her and calling her an orphan, but she ignores him and pretend that she didn’t hear anything.
Cha. 9: Sophie had to cut off a fish’s head, and she wasn’t to happy about it. It also didn’t help that /uncle Stew and Brian were giving her a hard time about it. Sophie and the crew visited one of the uncle’s friends and had dinner there.
Cha. 10: Cody is enjoying the sailing and Sophie enjoys catching fish.
Cha. 11: Brian and Cody taught some lessons on the points of sail and juggling. Brian taught the points and Cody taught the juggling.
Cha. 12: Cody is saying how boring Brians lessons were and how interesting Sophie’s will be.
Chapter 13-22
Cha. 13: Sophie is starting to get confused on what day it is, the boat had some problems, they saw some dolphins, and one of Sophie’s uncles taught a lesson on how to use a sextant.
Cha. 14: Sophie tells everyone about one of Bompie’s, Sophie’s grandfather, stories. This one is about him losing a car in a creek.
Cha. 15: Sophie and the crew docked and went to uncle Dock’s friends’ house and went lobstering. Sophie called her parents too.
Cha. 16: Cody is growing more and more curious about all of the stops they have been making and Sophie’s real parents. Uncle Dock knows what happened, but won’t saying, and says it’s not a pretty story.
Cha. 17: The crew went clamming with Dock’s friends’ father, and we got some information on Sophie’s uncles and their real names, and they’re desire to sail ever since they were young.
Cha. 18: Sophie told another story about Bompie. It was about how he almost got ran over by a train.
Cha. 19: Sophie and Cody met a woman who claims to have seen ghosts on an island, so they went to the island to explore.
Cha. 20: Cody asks Sophie about her parents, her real parent, but she doesn’t like the question and keeps avoiding them while also talking about a little kid who had to live with other people other than her parents.
Cha. 21: Brian has no idea why people don’t like him, Sophie wasn’t feeling good and threw up, Cody and Brian were fighting, things aren’t looking good for the crew.
Cha. 22: Weird stuff is happening. Uncle Dock and his friend are being secretive, Cody’s father is often crying, and they STILL haven’t left Grand Manan (the island). And Sophie tells yet another story about Bompie biting a pastor.
Chapters 23-33
Cha. 23: The crew finally set sail after who knows how long, Uncle Mo is a good at drawing, and Sophie sees that. Sophie is wondering about not being able to walk on land freely for a while, and is worried about being cooped up with the crew. It also doesn’t help that there is a thunderstorm going on right now.
Cha. 24: Cody is happy that they are back at sail, and notices his dad acting more caring than careless.
Cha. 25: Uncle Stew got fired from his job.
Cha. 26: Cody’s father teaches him radio code.
Cha. 27: Sophie asks all these questions about Uncle Stews job before he got fired.
Cha. 28: Cody learns more radio code and practiced with the others using their names in radio code.
Cha. 29: One of the sails tore, Uncle Stew and Cody had a fight about it and Cody’s father intervened, they spent some time fixing the sail, and Sophie starts talking about the struggles living on a boat.
Cha. 30: Cody learned how to tie an end-knot from Sophie, and Cody and his father agree on something for the first time in a while.
Cha. 31: There was a black bird that stayed for a little, then three whales swam beside them and that’s when we get to hear story from Uncle Dock and his love for a girl named Rosalie, and then they saw dolphins.
Cha. 32: Sophie tell another story about Bompie when he jumped in a swimming hole.
Cha. 33: Sophie was curious about Rosalie, so Uncle Stew told her why they have been stopping at all of those islands. And Uncle Dock seemed almost sad which was very unusual for him.
Chapters 34-47
Cha. 34: Cody can’t get sleep, Sophie tells Cody about a little kid that has the same dream every night. After that, Sophie started acting weird.
Cha. 35: They are over halfway to Bompie, Cody got to use some radio code, and all three Uncles shared laughs as they recall memories.
Cha. 36: Cody is puking because of the boat rocking.
Cha. 37: There are strong gusts of wind and they have to do they’re to try to keep the boat up and fixing problems.
Cha. 38: There is a lot of wind and water is coming up high on the sides of the boat.
Cha. 39: The crew is in an intense moment of giving their all to keep the boat of while battling the strong winds.
Cha. 40: Cody and his father are expressing their thoughts about not wanting to die.
Cha. 41: The battle against the wind and water is still happening, and Sophie is upset that she doesn’t get to do the part she wants to do. The relationship between Sophie and everyone else is getting tense.
Cha. 42: Cody feels like he’s in a battle.
Cha. 43: Everyone is scared and crying except of Sophie. She’s “not going to cry”.
Cha. 44: Cody’s father said he’s been a good son and he’s been a bad father and that he was sorry for that. Cody thinks that he hasn't been a good son.
Cha. 45: They are all alone, and worried. Everyone is not feeling good.
Cha. 46: As Sophie and Cody tried to sleep, Sophie tells ANOTHER story about Bompie. This time he’s floating in the ocean.
Cha. 47: The wind and water has been fierce day and night. Everyone is praying that the wind will lighten up.
