This book teaches us that people come and go, that sickness is not a choice, and that life can be scary. This book shows that we should care for our loved ones because everyone has a time to go, and you never know when.  Sickness just happens; you can be sick for a day or a month. You can't choose to get sick, so this book teaches us to always be aware. Sometimes scary things happen, but that doesn't mean that you have to give up. Just like how Matilda stayed strong during the whole book, if she can stay strong while watching all her close friends and family die, then you can too.
