As we are all preparing for the 2021-2022 school year, we wanted to welcome you back to the Library and share a little about who we are and what we are planning for the coming year. The Park School of Baltimore Library is an inclusive place that strives to embrace the diverse viewpoints, skills, and experiences of our community. Our team is committed to working closely with students, faculty, and the whole Park community to support the intellectual, emotional, social, and creative development of our students, empowering them to engage with their world more deeply and with greater impact. Learning never stops at the Library!
The Lower School Library is a warm and nurturing environment that invites students to come in to explore and wonder. Students will be guided through the various resources and services the Library has to offer including, but not limited to, finding “just the right book,” using technology for research or to answer a question, or getting cozy while immersing themselves in a story book or graphic novel. Our Librarians will help familiarize students with the Library and collaborate with other educators in a supportive role. We aim to ensure that students and educators are fully prepared with the resources housed in the Library, and to offer any guidance or assistance that may be needed. As Librarians, our main goal is to instill a love of reading and to encourage excitement about learning about the world around us by visiting the Library.
We are thrilled to welcome Middle and Upper School students back into the Library this year! While students had only limited access to the MS/US Library last year, we plan to fully reopen this fall. We will be adhering to social distancing requirements, but will offer full access to the Library space for students to browse, check out books, and work quietly.
Additionally, we will be maintaining the book “hold” system that we implemented last year for all students’ convenience (Lower, Middle, and Upper School), and we are also continuing to subscribe to a shared ebook and audio book collection. All students will be reoriented to Library offerings and programming at the start of the school year.
