"In the Morning"

by Emily Easton

Thou wouldst like to get to know me

Why dost thou get thy hopes high?

Thou forswore to stay, but thou left merely

I believed thee was honest, aye

Whither was thee at the dawn?

Nay warning was left, I have not seen thee sith

How dost thou be gone?

Thy love for thee was an unfinished myth

I prithee had a lovely visit

Thou marry had a grand time

I verily did not expect it

And all I will ponder is why, for the rest of thy lifetime

In the morning, there was no thee

No farewell was granted for me
