REHEARSAL PROCEDURES
Cast:
Any time a student is called to rehearsal they need to bring their script, a pencil, a water bottle and wear clothing that is easy to move around in. During rehearsals students may be asked to do multiple different activities including singing, dancing, and reviewing lines/blocking.
Students will stay after school for rehearsals. Not every student will be called to every rehearsal. When students are called they need to eat their snack prior to coming to the theater at 3:40. Many teachers are willing to accommodate the need for students to eat their snack. Please be present and prompt in picking your child up at the end of rehearsal. All rehearsals are closed rehearsals, we do not allow parents to watch rehearsals as it can be distracting to students.
The expectation is that students are practicing their roles at home including their songs, lines and choreography. They should come to rehearsal ready to review and learn new information.
Crew:
Any time a student is called to rehearsal they need to bring a water bottle and clothing that fits the safety standards as listed in the handbook.
Students will stay after school for rehearsals. Not every student will be called to every rehearsal. When students are called they need to eat their snack prior to coming to the theater at All Call. Many teachers are willing to accommodate the need for students to eat their snack. Please be present and prompt in picking your child up at the end of rehearsal. All rehearsals are closed rehearsals, we do not allow parents to watch rehearsals as it can be distracting to students.
The expectation is that students come to rehearsal ready to contribute and put in a good effort towards whatever project they have been assigned.
ATTENDANCE
Students may miss up to two rehearsals unexcused, anymore than that and we will need to discuss their participation in the show. An Unexcused absence is any rehearsal conflict that was not listed on the student’s conflict list collected with the audition or application information. This includes late arrivals or early dismissals.
In order to participate in rehearsals and performances the student must be in attendance in school at PPA the day of the rehearsal/performance for at least a half day. Students who are taken from school due to illness are not allowed to attend rehearsal. Any hold placed on a student due to illness applies to after school activities as well.
Blocking, direction, and instruction occur at every rehearsal so students need to be there, missing even one rehearsal can set back an actor and a show. We want to be understanding of emergencies and sickness, but being in a show is a big time commitment.
If your student will not be attending rehearsal please notify the stage manager Mrs. McQuigg at kayla.mcquigg@parkerperformingarts.org as soon as possible.

We requests that ALL ACTORS wear solid black shoes for the performance. Black Jazz shoes are preferred as they make dancing and moving easier and give a sleek uniform style to the costuming. Solid black tennis shoes or dress shoes are also acceptable.
Some students may be requested to wear specific shoes, such as character shoes or dress shoes. PPA has a small selection of shoes, but buying your own is generally better.
Places to purchase:
Encore Dance & Bodywear 10510 S Progress Way # 102, Parker, CO 80134
Dance Extreme Body Wear 6828 South Dallas Way Greenwood Village, CO 80112 https://www.danceextremebodywear.com/
All students are required to have a personally supplied base layer.
Boy Base Layer: The male base layer is a white, black or skin-tone t-shirt and black shorts. (No writing on shirt or shorts)
Girl Base Layer: A white, black or skin-tone tank top or leotard and black shorts or leggings. All girls must wear shorts or leggings even if they are wearing a leotard.
Students should also wear the appropriate undergarments.
Please place items in a ziplock bag. Please label items and the ziplock bag with the child's full name.
All base layers are due on
October 31st, 2025
All cast members are required to bring their own BLACK Eyeliner and Mascara. We do this for health reasons. The mascara and eyeliner will be returned to the student following the production. Please ensure make-up is labelled with student name. We do not care which brand the products are so long as they are black. We do not allow siblings to share as it is a health concern to share eye make-up.
Please turn the make-up into Mrs. McQuigg.
Please place both items in a ziplock bag. Please label both items and the ziplock bag with the child's full name.
All make-up is due on
October 31st, 2025
Stagehands, Booth Crew and Management Crew will need all black clothing for the shows. (We want to be sneaky ninja style for set changes and behind the scenes work) Clothing should consist of pants and a short or long sleeve shirt in solid black. Solid black tennis shoes are also preferred.
Makeup and Costume Crew can wear school appropriate dress of choice during the shows. Clothing must follow PPA dress code policy as laid out in the Parent/Student Handbook.
All students need to practice good hygiene. Students are often in close proximity during rehearsals and shows, and good hygiene makes everyone more comfortable. Students should bathe regularly, wear deodorant, brush teeth and keep personal items clean and neat. This also helps eliminate causes of sickness and germ spreading.
