All teachers are required to explicitly teach and reinforce the following school-wide behavior pillars:
1. Be Safe
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
Use materials and equipment appropriately
Walk at all times indoors
2. Be Respectful
Use kind words and actions
Listen and follow directions the first time
Take turns and share
3. Be Responsible
Follow directions and complete tasks
Take care of personal and school property
Stay on task and ask for help when needed
Teaching Expectations:
Behavior expectations must be taught at the beginning of the year, and routinely reviewed and retaught as needed.
Teachers are expected to teach and practice common area procedures including:
Hallways
Cafeteria
Restrooms
Arrival/Dismissal
Playground
Use modeling, role-play, and student participation to reinforce behaviors in each area.
Reinforce expectations using behavior matrices, visuals, and student-friendly language.
Teach, model, and practice behavior expectations regularly
Post expectations visibly in the classroom
Use a common language aligned with PBIS
Track behavior interventions and communicate regularly with families
Collaborate with support staff for students needing additional interventions
Contribute to a positive school climate by reinforcing expectations across all settings
