Consider volunteering as a judge! All judges should have a working knowledge of their assigned arts area. Familiarity with student art is a plus and encourages age appropriate considerations. You will be supplied with everything you need to judge fairly.
Offer to exhibit student artwork.
Local businesses might consider supporting fundraisers for Reflections (for example, a local restaurant might host a “dine out” night, with a portion of receipts benefiting the program). Proceeds might help pay for trophies, ribbons, certificates and prizes for student participants; food for the celebration; or a scholarship for a student who might not otherwise be able to participate.
Other businesses might provide in-kind contributions: ask a local arts-supply or craft store for donations of paintbrushes, paper or paints; a local library or print shop might allow students to use their computers and photo-editing software for entries.
Searching for judges? Here are a few ideas from PTA/PTSAs leaders from around the country: senior centers, local law enforcement, posting a flyer at music/instrument stores, outreach to fraternal and Panhellenic Greek organizations, English departments at colleges, at local community colleges, churches and businesses such Panera Bread, Starbucks, etc. You would be amazed from where a judge or two may come.
