IC and School Accountability
Email from Keith Oswald, March 2016, outlining student placement for math and industry certification courses at the middle school level.
Dear Secondary Principals,
Through the collaborative leadership of the Departments of Accountability, Curriculum, and Choice and Career Options, a chart outlining the acceleration component of school grades has been created and attached. This chart shows the industry certification and potential math course pathways for different level middle school math students. This chart is to be utilized as you prepare your master schedule for next year. Please access Bulletin #SP 16-224 DSCOS (https://www.sdpbc.org/Docs/DistrictBulletins/SP%2016-224%20DSCOS.pdf), for further guidance regarding math course pathways.
Schools will now be able to offer students the CIW Site Development Associate (SDA) Industry Certification in the 7th grade. This industry certification will be offered in Fundamentals of Web and Software Development (9009500), a middle school level year-long CTE course under the Business Education Teacher Certification. School industry certification funds, earned in previous years, are to be used to purchase SDA exams.
The CIW Internet Business Associate (IBA) Industry Certification will continue to be offered in the 8th grade. The CCC course in which IBA has been offered is daggered for deletion at the end of this school year. As a result, IBA will now be embedded within Emerging Technology in Business (8207010), a high school level year-long CTE course, under the Business Education Teacher Certification.
