This is my second year on the yearbook staff, and it's been an exciting opportunity to develop my design and creative skills. I've been working with Canva to create layouts and designs that are visually appealing and cohesive with the overall theme of the yearbook. Using Canva has helped me familiarize myself with the principles of design, and I've been able to apply elements of art, such as balance, contrast, and unity, to ensure that each page flows well and captures the essence of the school year. We just completed our third and final deadline which means we have wrapped up the hard work and it is ready to be shown at the end of the year. This images show some of the spreads I have created.
Creating Graphics
One of many graphics I have created for the show. A big part of our show includes creating graphics, which help enhance the storytelling and provide important details in a visually engaging way. Graphics allow our audience to see key information at a glance, whether it’s game scores, event details, or announcements. By incorporating elements of design, such as color, typography, and layout, we ensure that these visuals are both informative and appealing.
Creativity is a key skill that I apply to my assignments, allowing me to bring fresh ideas and unique perspectives to my work. It is enjoyable to love the work I do and find new ways to make assignments more engaging. For an assignment in my AP European History course, where the task was to tell a story about a historical figure, I designed a simple newspaper using Canva.
Making posters to be displayed around the school and shared on social media to remind students and staff to tune in for our announcements. These posters are designed to be eye-catching and informative, using bold visuals and clear messaging to capture attention.
