An exercise in giving psychology away
The collected works you see here reflect senior Psychology capstone projects completed in the spring of 2021 at Pacific University. Following the theme noted above -- Controlling the narrative for peace of mind -- each enrolled student chose a situation that could feasibly be improved with a cognitively inspired wise intervention. As a class we discussed a core set of select works from cognitive, psycholinguistic, and applied social-cognitive literatures. Using these works as jumping off points and following Dr. Walton's Wise Intervention framework, students created a unique program designed to help. Each student's project has two parts: a deep dive explaining the background research, and a series of activities that can be downloaded from this site. When you click into each project below, you will find a link to the e-book containing the deep-dive along with accompanying activities and instructions for appropriate use. All activities are free and ready for use. Please note that while each student's wise-intervention-workbook is informed by empirical research and theory, the effectiveness of each set of activities has not been empirically evaluated. That is, the activities we suggest are sound, but the authors are students of psychology, not professionals. As such, we ask that you please use this information responsibly.
