Welcome to the workbook companion site to the ebook titled:
Improving Narratives around Musical Practice: A Cognitive Approach to Music Education.
Music can be an extremely beneficial practice. It can strengthen language processing, challenge motor competency, and improve executive functions. These benefits arise in part because music is an extremely complex skill. As such, it also has potential to become a source of stress. Practicing is difficult. Learning can be uncomfortable. This project explores how music educators can manage this balance, and help students persevere in order to better enjoy the benefits of musical practice.
Below are a series of exercises designed to help educators and students begin to create better narratives around learning and practice. This practical section is in two parts: the first is intended for educators to inform their own practices. The second is a set of activities to implement with students.
