You can take these courses for special interest in general, or you could ask about high school credit for them as well (through an Independent Studies course for example). These are excellent opportunities to explore interests, gain experience, and build your resume.
Armed Forces (NAVY): Naval Experience Program (rolling admissions - possibly grade 10+; one year; fully paid)
Perry Outreach Program - Orthopedics or Engineering experiential learning day in Vancouver (on a Saturday in mid-October) - application deadline is September 19th, 2025.
UBC Mini Med School (September 26th, 2025 application deadline - free of charge - open to grade 11 and 12 students - virtual options available)
Police Camp (Spring Break at St. Margaret's campus - free of charge - Apply by November 13th, 2025 - competitive with interview process - open to grade 10-12 students)
The Shad Program (Canada's longest-running STEAM + entrepreneurship program for high school students, delivered in collaboration with 30+ postsecondary institutions nationwide to spark innovation and impact. Learn about university campus life and experience hand-on workshops, team projects, off-campus field trips, and a community unlike any other. Financial support is available for those with financial need. - Apply by January 5, 2026 - Duration: Live-in (on a university campus in Canada) July 5 to July 31 (27 days - $7,495); Virtual: July 6 to July 31 (20 days - Monday to Friday 11am - 5 pm ET - $3,955)
DUAL CREDIT course through Trinity Western University - ICT 113 (Gaming and Programming Course) - open to grade 10-12 students - apply asap (by end of November 2025) - offered online - provides high school and possibly university/college credit (depends on the institution) - free of charge.
Explore - Official Languages Program Canada - open to students 13+; funded by the government of Canada for those students accepted, however airfare still a family expense. Excellent opportunity to learn French in another part of Canada in a group on a post-secondary campus in either the Spring or Summer. Application deadline is February 3, 2026.
