Curriculum Overview
Saxon Math is built upon an incremental and spiral approach to learning. This means that new concepts are introduced in small, manageable steps each day. Crucially, these new concepts are then continually reviewed and woven into mixed practice problems for weeks or even months afterward. This consistent repetition and cumulative review are designed to ensure students build a strong foundation, achieve mastery, and retain mathematical concepts over the long term. Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed. The most popular homeschooling math program hands down! Highly recommended by both Mary Pride and Cathy Duffy. Saxon Math is also Rainbow Resource’s "Most Requested Text."
Saxon math is a "user-friendly" math program - even for Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and other usually difficult math topics. Learning is incremental and each new concept is continuously reviewed, so the learning has time to "sink in" instead of being forgotten when the next topic is presented. Higher scores on standardized tests and increased enrollments in upper-level math and science classes have resulted where Saxon has been used in public schools. Because of the format, children are able to work more independently.

Parent Educators and Teachers requested a comprehensive workbook to pair with the Saxon K Math Program to provide opportunities for pencil to paper practice for Kinder students. We now include this IXL K Workbook with our Saxon Math Kit for K. It can also be purchased through Amazon or ordered with student funds. Sutter Peak Students have digital access to IXL for extra practice as well!
Each workbook pairs fun, carefully crafted problems with delightful images. Help your younger learner build a strong foundation in kindergarten math!

Optional Add-on: Manipulative Kits TK-3rd
Optional Add-on: Nicole the Math Lady
Nicole the Math Lady is an on-demand video subscription service designed to turn the parent-taught Saxon Math textbook program into an independent, student-directed curriculum. Founded by Stanford graduate and homeschool mom Nicole Thomas, the platform serves as a digital math teacher for families who love the rigorous, spiral approach of Saxon Math but want to reduce the parent's daily teaching and grading burden.
How It Works
The platform follows a simple 3-step learning routine:
Watch the Lesson: The student logs in, selects their textbook lesson, and watches a short video of Nicole explaining the new concept using a whiteboard, mnemonics, and memory tricks.
Complete the Practice: The student uses their physical Saxon textbook to complete the required practice sets, with options to pause videos and complete original interactive practice problems alongside Nicole.
Instant Automated Grading: Students can input their answers directly into the platform for immediate feedback, which completely eliminates the manual grading burden for parents.

Optional Add-on: MyMathAssistant
My Math Assistant is an all-in-one digital companion hub designed to automate the instruction, drilling, and grading of the physical Saxon Math curriculum. It transforms a traditional, parent-led textbook program into an independent, student-directed learning system.
How It Works
The Video Tab (Learn): The student begins by watching a concise, whiteboard-style video (around 5 minutes long). The instructor teaches the core math theory of that textbook lesson and walks through a few unique sample problems.
The Facts Practice Tab (Drill): The student completes a randomized, digital math facts speed run to build mental math fluency. This removes the need for parents to print or hand-grade Saxon's daily timed sheets.
The Lesson Practice Tab (Apply): The student opens their physical textbook to try the short set of practice problems covering the brand-new concept. They figure out the math on real scratch paper, then type their numerical answers into the dashboard to check if they truly understood the video lesson.
The Mixed Practice Tab (Review): The student solves the day's main homework set on physical paper, entering each final answer into the system. If students are missing concepts, parents are alerted as well.
