This is clearly the major component of our GHL programme and our students will continue with their existing schemes of work where possible.

Learning is a key part of wellbeing. At this time, you could choose some new, independent, learning of your own.

E.g. Starting a FutureLearn or OpenLearn course or learning a new language.

Amazon Future Engineer

Free virtual coding programme

With many schools closed due to COVID-19, Amazon Future Engineer has launched a free virtual coding programme available for students, teachers and parents to help build computer science skills for students learning at home.

The website can be accessed here and has been recommended by one of our students. (Added 21.04.20)

Futurelearn are now offering courses for schools - Working alongside top education institutes across the globe, FutureLearn is offering school students aged 13+ free courses to support their learning and expand their horizons until September 2020. Students will be able to access tests, gain certificates when eligible and keep access to the course content. (Added 23.04.20)

GDST

This is to give you some information on the online courses for Years 11-13 developed in collaboration with a Google Innovator Academy Coach and the TED Ed Talks team.

These courses are facilitated by Cris Turple and are open to girls from across the Trust.

They are designed to run for six weeks, with a live session each week led by Cris.

The timing of the live session will be scheduled so as to complement rather than clash with the normal timetable.

We encourage you to sign up for a course.

A timely reminder for our school community is that the OHS library’s on-line resources are available and can be accessed through the firefly library page as below:

The first library page hosts a link to our e-book platform where you will be re-directed to the OHS vle-library. You may read any of the available books on-line, but should you wish to download a copy you will need to install Adobe Digital Editions (for free) for the first time of borrowing.
