Kindergarten Current Unit of Inquiry: Sharing The Planet
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF KINDERGARTNERS WHERE LEARNING IS FUN!
During the month of January, Kindergartners were introduced to the new unit of inquiry, “Sharing the Planet.” In this unit, students are learning that individual actions can make an impact and create change in the world. They were able to connect this central idea to the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and how he worked to make the world a better place. After reading books and watching videos about Dr. King, Kindergartners became communicators by sharing their thoughts on how they can help make the world better and live up to his legacy. They also made meaningful connections to the positive impact of their parents, families, teachers, and community in their own lives.
Kindergartners were also introduced to the pillar of the month, " Truth ". During circle time, they discussed different scenarios that encouraged them to be reflective and to take risks. They learned that telling the truth takes courage, especially after making a dishonest choice. Students were highly engaged as they shared times when they were not truthful and reflected on how it made them feel. The discussions highlighted a strong understanding of the importance of honesty and telling the truth.
HANDS ONLY CPR ON THE GO TO KINDERGARTNERS!!!!!
Our kindergarten students were introduced to Hands Only CPR in an age appropriate way. They learned the importance of getting help,calling an adult and using their hands to push hand and fast on their stuffed animals. This experience helped build awareness,confidence and basic safety understanding.
