Dear Grade 3 Families,
We have had a wonderful and engaging month in Grade 3! Our students have been busy learning, exploring, and expressing themselves in meaningful ways through our IB Unit of Inquiry: How We Express Ourselves.
As part of this unit, students explored how people around the world express traditions, beliefs, and values through holidays and celebrations. They conducted research on holidays from different cultures and countries, and proudly created their own Canva presentations to share what they learned. This project allowed students to practice organizing information, using digital tools, and creatively presenting their ideas.
A highlight of the unit was our field trip to the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan. Students were excited to explore exhibits that connected to our learning and helped deepen their understanding of culture, history, and expression around the world. The trip was a wonderful opportunity for hands-on learning and curiosity-driven exploration.
Our IB Learner Profile focus for the month was Communicator. Students worked hard to express their ideas confidently through speaking, writing, and presenting. Alongside this, our School Pillar of the Month was Respect. Students demonstrated respect by listening attentively, valuing different perspectives, and supporting one another during presentations and discussions.
As part of our Unit of Inquiry, How We Express Ourselves, students had the opportunity to present their projects to family and friends. Through this experience, students demonstrated courage and resilience as they spoke confidently in front of an audience and shared topics that were meaningful to them.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the families who joined us and supported not only their own children, but also their classmates. Your presence helped create a respectful and encouraging learning community where students felt confident expressing themselves.
We are so proud of the growth and effort our Grade 3 students have shown this month. Thank you for your continued support and partnership at home—it truly makes a difference.
Our next Unit of Inquiry will be How the World Works. Students will explore China, with a focus on the Four Great Inventions of Ancient China. Through hands-on investigations, students will examine how these inventions impacted societies and continue to influence the world today. Students will apply their learning by designing and building simple machines, encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, and innovation.
Our IB Learner Profile focus will be Principled. Students will be encouraged to act with honesty, fairness, and responsibility as they work collaboratively, respect materials, and take ownership of their learning throughout the design and building process.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions. We look forward to another exciting month of learning ahead!
