The first grade students attended Queens College to be a part of an engaging performance where they experienced music and dancing from various South American countries. Students listened closely to different rhythms, watched traditional dances, and learned how music can tell stories about culture and community. This exciting experience helped bring our learning to life and sparked lots of curiosity and joy among our young learners!
As part of our Unit of Inquiry, students explored the topics of light and sound and learned how these ideas connect to the ways technology has changed over time. To deepen their understanding, students interviewed a grown up and asked questions about the technology they used when they were younger. Students then used this information to create and present a showcase, comparing past and present technologies. Through this experience, students practiced speaking clearly, sharing their learning with confidence, and reflecting on how innovation has shaped our everyday lives.
The first graders visited the second grade showcase to learn about endangered species. They listened carefully as the second graders shared their research and taught them about animals that need protection. This experience helped our first graders learn the importance of caring for the environment while also practicing respectful listening and asking thoughtful questions. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn from one another!
Students ended 2025 with some fun holiday activities!Â
