In our second unit of inquiry, How the World Works, third graders have been diving into fascinating topics like cultures, traditions, the voting process, and government. This month, our central idea, “Resources impact human societies,” has guided our learning.
Through our ELA Wonders curriculum (Unit 2), students explored how people make government work, elections, and even a kid-friendly view of the voting process. We also discussed reasons why people immigrate to new places and worked together to create an anchor chart highlighting these reasons.
In Social Studies, the students showcased their research and collaboration skills by studying famous landmarks worldwide. Each student created a "postcard" about their chosen landmark, combining creativity with what they learned.
As we’ve been exploring these topics, communication and collaboration have been key. By working together, students are learning to celebrate their strengths and the unique qualities they bring to the classroom community. It’s been a great journey so far!
