This month's theme is “How the World Works,” and the central idea we are exploring is how living things interact with different systems to function.
During our writing unit, students researched different animals and how they interact with their environment. Students researched their animal's diet, habitat, adaptations, life cycle, and characteristics. They discovered how their animal can survive and thrive in its environment.
Throughout this writing unit, our second graders have been developing their learner profiles of “knowledgeable” and “inquirer.” Students have been asking questions about their animals and using their knowledge of research to find the answers. They have also been making connections to what they have learned about their animals and what they already know about them.
We are Thinkers! Students are working together to solve word problems!
We are Communicators! I can share my ideas with others! I am confident and creative when talking about my ideas.
