West Partnership
Equity, Excellence and Empowerment: shifting the ownership of change
Moderation Portal
The Moderation Portal is a professional learning resource
The Moderation Portal aims:
to support colleagues across the West Partnership to develop their knowledge and understanding moderation
to support the development of a shared understanding of standards across the West Partnership
to build confidence in judging the achievement of a level
The Moderation Portal draws on national guidance and provides practitioners with a range of professional development, reflective tasks and collaborative opportunities in order to enhance understanding of high quality learning, teaching and assessment. The How to use this website? section gives ideas of how to use the Moderation Portal to engage in professional learning activities
The Moderation Portal is progressive and practitioners should begin by exploring the RESEARCH area. This outlines the key factors contributing to achievement of a level and can partake in a range of professional learning activities to support understanding of each.
The next section, MODERATE, will provide practitioners with the opportunity to look at examples of learning, teaching and assessment. It is advised that before you complete any of the activities listed within this section, you complete the professional learning module which is a step by step guide to the West Partnership approach to moderation and therefore supports your understanding of the tasks.
Finally, the CREATE area allows more confident practitioners to share their own examples of learning, teaching and assessment to be peer reviewed providing practitioners with feedback from colleagues across the partnership. Practitioners can also participate in the Peer Review Teams to deepen their understanding of assessment and moderation
