Student Voice

Student Voice

Student Voice at The Academy comes in a variety of formats, including our Senior Student Leadership Team and Tutor Class captains. The S2, S3 and S4 Tutor Class captains have chosen a student school improvement group (SIP) to be linked to for 2019-2020. The student SIP groups are aligned to the school improvement plan and include Teaching & Learning, Health & Wellbeing and Assessment & Achievement. In S1-S4 students elect representatives from their tutor classes to be class captains. S1 student elections will take place later this session.

S5 and S6 are represented by the Senior Student Leadership Team which comprise four Captains, three STEM Ambassadors, five BGE Ambassadors, a Health and Wellbeing ambassador and an Expressive Art Ambassadors. The Senior Student Leadership Team meet regularly throughout the session to discuss issues affecting their school community, whilst planning for improvements and discussing action.

We want to give the Senior Student Leadership Team and Class Captains opportunities to:

      • be involved in planning for school improvement
      • share their thoughts about wellbeing and inclusion
      • contribute ideas about learning
      • contribute ideas about our school environment

All students at The Academy have the opportunity to voice their opinion. If there is something that concerns pupils or they have an idea to improve the school, they can complete a short Google Form (link below). Your idea or opinion will automatically be collated by Mrs Palin who will share with the relevant department, person or committee in the school.
