Promoting Positive Relationships with Unconditional Positive Regard
Children’s rights, as outlined in the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child), are fundamental to fostering a positive school ethos. Adults in our school work alongside young people to ensure they are fully aware of their rights and respect the rights of others. The approach at Riverside School is to nurture positive relationships based on Unconditional Positive Regard, promoting care, respect, and understanding for all.
The smooth running of Riverside School relies on building and maintaining high standards of respectful behaviour from everyone within it. We greatly appreciate the support of parents and carers in helping us achieve this.
Positive relationships are actively recognised and celebrated throughout the school.
When procedures for behaviour management and support are required, we work in partnership with parents and carers. Your cooperation is essential in ensuring positive outcomes for all involved.
Riverside School uses CPI Intervention (Crisis Prevention Institute) techniques to manage challenging behaviour. This is a whole-school approach, with all staff engaged in the process. The CPI training is designed to ensure the safety of both our young people and staff while promoting positive and constructive relationships rooted in Unconditional Positive Regard.
