Starting School in Carleith

First Day:

P1 Pupils arrive at 9.15am. Teachers and buddies will meet children at the front door and escort them to the classroom. Parents/carers are welcome to come in and collect children from class at 2:45pm. Photographs etc. can be taken then.

P2 - P7 Pupils arrive at 9am and head to the playground and line up outside their new classrooms.

2nd School Day onwards : All children start at 9am. Staff will meet new P1 children at the gate and escort them round to the playground.

Regular Times

Start: 9am

Interval: 10.30 am—10.45am

Lunch: 12.15 pm— 1pm

End: 3pm

If your child is unwell we please ask that you let the School Office know before 9:30am.

School Uniform

Our Formal school uniform is:

Grey Trousers / Shorts / Skirts or Pinafore
White Shirt and tie
White Polo Shirt
Purple Jersey or Cardigan

School Wear Made Easy

Some pupils may be eligible for a clothing grant. Parents can ask at the school office or online on the West Dunbartonshire Council website.

We ask that all items of uniform be clearly marked/labelled with your child’s name and class to ensure that is does not get lost.

Gym Kit and Outdoor Clothing

Please can your child bring in an indoor and outdoor gym kit to be left in school.

Indoor kit should consist of shorts, t-shirt, socks and gym shoes.

Outdoor kit should consist of joggers/leggings, jumper and outdoor trainers.

Please label all gym kits clearly with your child’s name.

To allow us to continue to build on the outdoor learning experiences the children were given in the nursery, could you please send a pair of wellington boots in for your child to be kept in school if possible. We have a selection of spare boots if you are unable to do so. Again could these please have your child’s name on them.

School Lunches

P1-5 children are entitled to free school lunches. If your child is in P6-7 and you think you are entitled to free lunches for your child please ask in the School Office or contact West Dunbartonshire Council. P6-7 lunches are paid using our Parent Pay system and a letter explaining, along with a password, will be issued when your child begins school.
