WD Families is an excellent resource that has been created to support families. The vision of family support is one which is clearly accessible and readily available to all and any family who needs it. We aim to ensure families are able to access the help they need, where and when they need it for as long as it is needed. In West Dunbartonshire we have 3 WD for Family Hubs : Clydebank, Dumbarton and Bonhill.
If you are looking for help or support with Wellbeing or Emotional Health this site is packed full of help.
"Welcome to West Dunbartonshire Wellbeing, where children, young people and their families, and those who work with them will find information to support and improve wellbeing and emotional health."
If at anytime you would like to discuss your child's progress then please contact any member of the management team.

If you are looking for some help with an aspect of literacy or numeracy then we have a range of online material that you can access that will help support your child at home or if they have to miss school for any period of time. Click on this link and you can see what is available.
Silvercloud have developed an online programme for parents to work through independently to support their young person with anxiety. There are two programmes available -Supporting An Anxious Child (designed for parents of children aged 5-11years) and Supporting an Anxious Teen (for parents of young people ages 12 - 18).
This is an online intervention based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, built in conjunction with leading clinical and subject matter experts. The programme provides psychoeducation, tools and activities to help parents support their children, delivered in a safe and confidential space. The programme is accessible 24/7, allowing users to access the programme at a time that suits them and from the comfort of their own home.

Child Protection is working together with statutory partners to protect a child from abuse. All staff have a responsibility to report concerns regarding the welfare or young person to the Head Teacher. The school works closely with all other relevant agencies to ensure appropriate information is shared with professionals including Police Scotland and Social work. If you have concerns about the safety or welfare of any child please share this with either the Head Teacher or the Deputy Head Teacher.
Here you will find more information around how we work with families to ensure the safety and welfare of all children.

Named Person Service for School Aged Children and Young People
Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) is the Scottish Government’s approach to promoting and safeguarding the wellbeing of children in Scotland. In most cases the families around each child will be able to offer all the help and support that is needed. However, there are times when a child may need a bit of extra help. The GIRFEC approach is there to make it as easy as possible to get that help when it is needed.
The GIRFEC policy requires that every child and young person and their family have access to help and support from a Named Person. The role of the Named Person is to safeguard and support the wellbeing of children and young people very much like the support that has always been offered by key members of staff in school. This new role of Named Person is integrated into the current role of key promoted members of staff in schools and serves to strengthen the support they currently provide, formalising their role as a central point of contact for children, parents and other people working with them.
Below, you will find the names of the members of staff who have been given the role of Named Person for each age group of children along with the arrangements for cover in the event of absence.
It is our intention to support the wellbeing and safeguarding of all of our young people to ensure that they have access to positive outcomes, choices and destinations; however, parents are reminded that the Named Person will only offer advice or support in response to a request from a child or parent, or when a wellbeing need has been identified. There is no obligation to accept the offer of advice or support from a Named Person.
At Carleith Primary School our child’s Named Person can be contacted on and the allocation will be as follows;
Class P1-7
Named Person : Mr John McDonald
Holiday Cover
The GIRFEC policy also recommends the local authorities provide continuity of the Named person Service during school holiday periods. At these times the Named Person Service will be provided by suitably qualified staff from the Central Named Person Service at the Council Offices. See contact details below.

Bullying in any form is not accepted in the school. If at any time you feel that your child has been the victim of bullying we would urge you to contact the school as soon as possible and a meeting will be arranged to discuss the action required.
We follow the West Dunbartonshire Anti Bullying Policy.
This is a very useful site for advice and support if you are concerned about Bullying.
Campus@WDC is packed full of lessons for almost all areas of the curriculum. If you are looking for some extra challenge or support that your child could be doing at home then this would be a good place to start. If you are unsure about what level or lessons your child should do then ask your child's teacher for some advice.
