Testing:
The following tests are used to assist students learning. Other tests may be used to help identify a student's need, as appropriate. The tests are used in conjunction with observations and other information gathered to support the student.
LUCID 11-15 LASS Secondary Assessment:
This assessment tests the following areas-
Visual Memory (ability to see and comprehend objects)
Auditory-verbal memory (ability to hear and recall information)
Phonic reading skills (ability to decode information into smaller parts)
Phonological processing ability (ability to process information)
Single word reading (ability to read individual words)
Sentence Reading (ability to read contextually)
Spelling (ability to identify and spell words correctly)
Reasoning (indicates possible cognitive academic ability)

PATOSS Assessments:
Patoss are 3 tests which assess a students writing and typing speeds against their ability to use a scribe (someone who writes the student's answers down).
Patoss is often used to assess whether a student is eligible for Special Assessment Conditions (SAC) under NZQA guidelines.
Each test take 20 minutes to complete.
YARC Assessment Tool:
The YARC Assessment is part of YORK Supports which focus on testing 3 main reading components. YARC assesses a student's ability to read individual words, ability to read contextually (a whole story with several paragraphs) and answer comprehension questions, and demonstrate their fluency skills (ability to read quickly and effectively).
This test take approximately 40-50 minutes to complete.

South Australian Spelling Test:
This test assesses a students ability to be spelling words that increase in complexity and syllable levels.
